Elder Scrolls V + Crysis = Pwnage

I was thinking a bit about Oblivion, and I thought, "wouldn't it just be omgwtf1337uberpwnage if they made a sequal to Oblivion using a modified Crysis engine?" That game would kick ass in every way possible. Just modify the engine so that you can use more kinds of trees, pour in all of the Elder Scroll Juices, and you will have a game that would surely take over the world. It wouldn't even have to be online or anything.

Cyrodiil Ahoy!

I have recently rediscovered the wonderful essence of Oblivion. I got the game a few years back I think (whenever it came out), and played it a lot then, but I quit playing when I got into WoW and my character was too uber to do anything else. I recently reinstalled tha game onto this new computer and, with my newly aquired powers, was able to put all the settings on as high as they will go and still have it run at ~70fps, or over 200 when in menus. I found out how to take the interface out of the game (go into console, type tm and hit Enter) and it makes it so immersive that I couldn't help but take many, many screenshots. I wish I could post them all here, but that would take a long time and I am too lazy. Maybe someday I could install Morrowind as well... =D. Anyway, enjoy the pictures, and remember there are many more where those come from. Remember to click to enlarge them, this blog's small size doesn't do it justice.

To Switch, or Not to Switch. That is teh QQ.

I have been more seriously thinking of switching to 64-bit Vista. The benifits are nice, and I have heard that Microsoft has been doing a good job this time with Vista64, but my only concern stopping me from switching is that a lot of programs (games, anyone?) do not work or not work well on 64-bit OS's. I have yet to find a list of games that do not work on Vis64, but I know there is one. Maybe I could isntall 32-bit Vista on my old computer again...

'Newai, if anyone finds a good list be sure to link it to me in the comments. 'Twould be much appreciated.

omg... /confuzzled

In my last update, you probably noticed that I linked "DOF" to the Wikipedia article about Depth of Field. I didn't actually look at the article much; I just wanted to link it in case someone didn't know what DOF meant. I just read a bit of that page, and it is... confusing. I fell like I have missed something in math class. Especially because, although I have always wanted to go into photography, I never really started studying it in-depth. Just looking at Flickr makes you want to go grab a new high-end camera, but who knows how high the prices on those can get (omg)... My current camera is some cheap $300 Cannon that doesn't do most of the fancy professional stuff (not the one pictured). Well, I guess I have a lot to learn.

Testing the New Computer! =D /Crysis

With quad-core, Nvidia 8800, and a faster FSB, I am finally able to play games "The Way They are Meant to be Played". All of the games I have tested have run noticeably better, except for that bug with Garry's Mod... anyway, when Gmod does work, I am able to "clean up" hundreds of barrels at once (includes many props exploding and pieces [on fire] flying everyware) without losing too many frames, can run Unreal Tournament 2004 (full settings) at ~240 fps, and play Crysis at much higher specs than before (see pictures). So far I am satisfied with the performance, and possibly in the future I will OC the CPU, but it is not needed now.

On the subject of Crysis, what is with the settings in that game? You always hear in benchmarking reviews in magazines (like PC Gamer) that "we did these benchmarks with FSAA on 2x, motion blur off, and DOF on" or whatever they used. My point is, where do you turn on and off DOF and motion blur? I have triple checked that there are no "second page" buttons on the advanced system options menu... =/ anyway, if anyone figures out or knows how to do this, please tell me (just leave a comment on this post) I will thank you... lol... not much else I can do.One more thing about Crysis... Laugh at me if you will, I can't seem to find a place to get the latest update. Most of the servers I try to join in MP tell me that my client is old. So if you tell me the coffee is bad, tell me how to fix it, why don't you...? I looked all over the Crysis Offical Site, looked in the game files, and the only place I can find anything about updating is Fileplanet, which has the 1.1 patch that I think I already have. (the V# mismatch is in the final four-digit number it shows on the main menu) .... sigh... EA really seems to slack off sometimes.
